Win One

I like to think that it is my Alex Wood Memorial Day jersey that brought him luck on Friday.  But Alex has been that good all season, undefeated with 8 wins.  He showed his best stuff against the Rockies who had claimed the number one spot in the National League West for a very long time.  The Dodgers now are number one.

Everyone was on the field during batting practice including the kids.
Clayton actually stopped to sign autographs
This is a failed selfie.  I couldn’t resist posting it to show you that my pics don’t always work!!  I couldn’t stop laughing.  FAIL!!
Some faces and back of heads in the dugout
It was Filipino Day so the club was serving up some Filipino dishes including the traditional Pancit and chicken macaroni with pineapple.
Eddie had the honors of carving up that turkey.  Nice tools Eddie.
Some of my favorite folks
Everyone was excited about Lonzo Ball  throwing out that first pitch, even Austin
They were warming up by the bullpen
All eyes on Lonzo.

My eyes were on Dave Styles, my favorite on-field announcer whom I am crushing on.  I almost fainted when he waved at me from far far away!!
Mark Dacascos, a Filipino celebrity threw out the ceremonial first pitch but not before doing some acrobatics.  I didn’t realize my favorite Grimm celebrity Reggie Lee AKA Sargent Woo was also there.
National Anthem.  Clayton couldn’t take his eyes off Lonzo
And then finally Lonzo Ball  threw the first pitch to none other than Kenley Jansen who was wearing a Laker jersey
One final look at Mr Ball
And here come Honey, Austin and Alex.   Austin: I tell you Cat is wearing your jersey!!  Alex:  I can’t look.  It’s not part of my routine.”
First pitch by phenomenal Alex Wood
In the top of the first inning Charlie Blackmon singled to center.  DJ LeMahieu walked but both were left on base.

There was a bit of a collision between two Rockies when Logan hit a fly to center in the bottom of the 1st inning. Everyone got up and was ok.
Corey hit a single to right field
A throwing error during a pick off attempt sent Corey to 2nd

Cody was out on a sacrifice fly but Corey scored.  1-0.
Kike singled with Justin to 2nd base
Chris Taylor singled with Justin to 3rd and Kike to 2nd.  With bases loaded Franklin ground out.  There went the air out of the excitement balloon.
In the 2nd inning, Trevor Story singled but was out at 2nd in the next play with a force out.  Tom Murphy doubled with Tapia scoring. 1-1.  That was all the damage.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning Austin walked
Corey hit a single scoring Austin. 2-1.
But with that play, Corey injured his hamstring.  He stayed in the game temporarily.
Justin hit a single to right field scoring Corey.  3-1.  You can tell by Corey’s face that something wasn’t quite right.
Cody doubled scoring Justin.  4-1.
In the top of the 3rd inning, Yasiel came in to replace Corey who went directly into the clubhouse after scoring the run.  Yasiel went to right field and Kike went to shortstop.

Mark Reynolds walked but was left on base.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning Franklin singled.
Austin walked.
A whole lot of discussion.  I thought they did this to stop the momentum that was going the Dodgers way.  Alex bunted into a double play so everyone was left on base.
In the top of the 4th inning the Rockies were out in order.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Yasiel did what he does best….he added that special dazzle to the game.  He hit a huge homerun to center field making the score 5-1.

Justin hit a double but was left on base.
In the top of the 5th inning, the Rockies were again out in order. In the bottom of the 5th inning, surprisingly the Dodgers also were out in order.

In the top of the 6th inning the Rockies were out in order.  In the bottom of the 6th inning, Yasiel walked but was left on base.

In the top of the 7th inning, the Rockies were out in order.  In the bottom of the 7th inning, Kike walked but was left on base.

In the top of the 8th inning, the Rockies were out in order again.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Austin tripled to right field.

Chase Utley walked.
Logan hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Austin 6-1.
Sergio Romo came in to close the game.  He was again fantastic. The Dodgers were looking good.  The Rockies were out in order.
Here they come over the rail.  Be careful guys!
This win is the Dodgers’ 8th in a row.  They have won 14 of their last 15.  They are firmly in 1st place in the National League West with the Rockies 2 1/2 games  back, the D Backs also are 2 1/2 back.  The Dodgers  have the best record in the National League and is 2nd in baseball, 2nd only to the Astros who lost yesterday.

Saturday Clayton Kershaw 10-2 ERA 2.61 will face Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood 6-7 ERA 4.08.  It is beach towel giveaway day so it may be a busy day.  There are still 4 more games in this long homestand.

WordPress is holding my blog entry for Thursday hostage.  I’ll post it as soon as I can.  Thanks everyone for stopping by.  GO DODGERS!!!
