I hate Sunday games because they are always day games. The Reds game was totally different. It was cool and cloudy. There were people complaining about how cold it was. I mean, really??? There were only a couple of players on the field, one being Clayton Kershaw who never misses an day. He is always fun to watch.
Rich Hill was also on the field.
I asked Rich for an autograph. He signed right below Chris Taylor. I rarely get autographs but Rich is a fave of mine.
Clayton in the dugout. He always says hi to me. Hi Clayton.
It was very cloudy. I just love it.
Dave Roberts with Sergio Romo.
The food was pretty good. Usually on Sundays, it’s breakfast food which I’m not fond of but they served chicken chiliquiles which I had never had before Dodger Stadium. Chiliquiles are made with tomatillo sauce, tortilla chips, Cotija cheese and fried eggs. So delicious.
Yasmani was going down the field and Hyun-Jin Ryu was already warming up.
He seemed to be watching me. Am I wrong?
And stretched in between looks in my direction.
Stretching and throwing
Another view. The sky was clearing up. I was hoping it wouldn’t get warmer.
I always catch our guys talking to the enemy.
Justin…Kourtney, these pics are for you.
Adrian is ready at first base. Unfortunately he came out of the game in the 7th with back tightness, MRI Monday to determine what will happen next. Hopefully not DL.First pitch
In the 1st inning the Reds were out in order.
In the top of the 2nd inning, Adam Duvall hit a solo homerun. 0-1. Eugenio Suarez singled and Scott Schebler hit a two run homerun. 0-3. What happened?? Jose Peraza also singled to center but was left on base. The damage was done.
In the top of the 3rd inning, Joey Votto hit a solo homerun making the score 2-4.
In the top of the 6th inning, Suarez singled, Schebler doubled. Peraza was out on a sacrifice fly to center scoring Suarez. 3-5. Mesoraco hit a solo homerun making the score 3-7. I was feeling a little depressed at this point wondering whether I should just go home. I know better because the Dodgers are not a team that gives up. Adleman and Hamilton both hit singles but were left on base. We all were feeling down.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, Yasmani singled but was left on base.
In the top of the 7th inning with Chris Hatcher pitching, Suarez walked but was left on base. The stadium exit seemed very inviting.
In the bottom of the 7th inning Corey was hit by a pitch. Justin singled with Corey going to 2nd. I had put my camera away. They were left on base.
In the top of the 8th inning, Mesoraco doubled, Kivlehan walked but both were left on base.
In the bottom of the 8th inning it became more interesting.
Cody hit a solo homerun. 4-7. Yasmani singled. Yasiel walked after a pitching change. Chase walked with Yasmani scoring. 5-7.
I think the next player up Kike made the difference in the game. He seemed to be up forever hitting foul after foul.
He finally drew a walk..enough to thoroughly frustrate pitcher Arismendy Alcantara their closer.
My buddies were thoroughly tired after that walk.
Chase also walked scoring Yasmani. 5-7.
Coach needed to talk to the players after that. How could they lose such a big lead?
And then Corey did what he had never done before…he hit a grand slam scoring Yasiel, Kike and Chase. 9-7. This is what dreams are made of. We were all screaming. The moral of this game is…..never ever leave early.
This was the score going into the 9th inning.
Coaches and players were all eyes as Kenley came out to close the game.
And he did it in style to the delight of everyone. The Reds were out in order. We already were in a frenzy with the turn of events.
The Dodgers had swept the Reds in grand style. The games with the Reds were so exciting!! The Rockies finally lost to the Cubs making the Dodgers only 1 1/2 games back. The Dodgers have the day off but are flying out Monday to Ohio to face Cleveland on Tuesday.
I am back to work. My life is work work work and then Dodgers. How can I complain. My Dodgers make life worth living. Thanks for stopping by. GO DODGERS!!
